Affliction Ford SVT Raptor

At first glance, you probably think this truck is a product of Stark Industries. It definitely looks the part, but this high-tech beast is not the result of Tony Stark's brilliance. This is a truck we can all enjoy and it's not reserved for the Hollywood elite.

To build a truck as brutally powerful as this, you need a good platform for starters. When Ford rolled out the Raptor, compliments of SVT, the off-road world rejoiced. This is a truck that does what it says and does it right. It was born in Baja and is more suited for a desert race than a McDonald's drive-thru.

We got the scoop on the "Luxury Performance Raptor" as it is called from owner Chris Ross. Our first question was, "Why did you choose the Ford Raptor?" Chris says, "I bought the Raptor the day after I saw Tanner Faust race a HALO Diver on Top Gear." That's a good enough reason for us. If you haven't seen the video, here is the link on YouTube. Chris knew he would need more than the stock 411 horsepower. A quick trip to Hennessey Performance for their VelociRaptor 600SC package was next for this build. Shortly thereafter he contacted Addictive Desert Designs in AZ with a list of add-on goodies. Chris says, "A few days later, I was asked to bring the truck to SEMA. I guess I figured if I was going to do SEMA, I wanted to win BEST TRUCK OF SHOW, and the rest is history. If you don't know about SEMA, you probably aren't a car nut. SEMA is the place where the most radical, over-the-top rides show off every year. It's a Mecca for car and truck enthusiasts.

There are now over 30 partners/sponsors and what started as a fun ride has turned into a 7 month obsession. Chris says, "Somewhere along the way I received an e-mail from a non-profit organization in AZ called Phoenix Soldiers. They specialize in putting together extraordinary vacations for wounded soldiers. Next thing I knew, I was also putting together a trip for a couple of soldiers to join me at SEMA, and then to come with me down to the Baja off-road all the way to Cabo. This has been a really fun part of the project, and has also brought some great and generous people to the table to put a trip together for these soldiers that they will never forget."

If you noticed, the graphics package has been designed around a military theme to honor the soldiers.

Chris says, "Affliction Clothing came aboard as the main sponsor of the trip we have put together for our soldiers. They have been fantastic to work with. I have really cherished the level of commitment to giving that they have brought to this project." When it all comes together, and everyone shares in the success, that is the true meaning of winning.
